Respiratory Care Week
The Task: Each year, during the last week of October, the AARC commemorates Respiratory Care Week—a week-long celebration dedicated to honoring the profession and recognizing the significant contributions made by Respiratory Therapists in the medical field. For the 2022 campaign, the tagline “Essential Skills, Exceptional Care” was chosen, requiring the development of a corresponding campaign.
The Logo: The logo features a heart symbol to represent the passion and dedication that Respiratory Therapists have for their profession and patients. The heart is divided by two lines, creating a smaller heart shape at the top center, while two diagonal lines form the collar of the scrubs worn by RTs. Extending from the smaller heart is a ribbon that showcases the tagline. In terms of design, rounded edges were chosen to create a friendly appearance, avoiding any harsh or sharp ends. The same concept applies to the selection of a sans-serif typeface, which adds to the overall friendly and approachable aesthetic.
The Branding: The heart motif was integrated into all campaign components, symbolizing the passion and love that respiratory therapists have for their profession. In addition, I included original photography captured by myself and the senior graphic designer, featuring respiratory therapy students to represent the various branches within the profession. I chose to use this custom photography instead of stock images to authentically portray real individuals belonging to the respiratory therapy profession. It was important to me to showcase genuine people who are part of the profession, specially during this celebration dedicated to this hardworking professionals.
